Roger Federer's influence in tennis is undeniable; however, the Swiss legend's agency, Team8, has lost another rising star following Coco Gauff's departure.

Roger Federer is undoubtedly one of the greatest and most influential tennis players of all time. However, it seems like that’s not enough to lure the young stars to work with his management company, Team8, co-founded with his agent Tony Godsick. After losing Coco Gauff back in April, Ben Shelton has left Team8 to sign with WME.

Shelton had been part of Team8 since 2022, when he turned professional after winning his NCAA title run at University of Florida. The Atlanta native has been one of the US rising stars, reaching this year’s Australian Open semifinals and the fourth round of Roland Garros.

As he reached the World No. 12, Shelton is on the brink of becoming a Top 10 player. As announced this week, he will now be part of the WME roster of tennis players, which includes Serena Williams, Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek, Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe.

Gauff, on the other hand, created her own company, Coco Gauff Enterprises, which is powered by WME through its “vision and resources,” as the WTA World No. 2 announced in a statement back in April.

Even after parting ways with Team8, Shelton remains linked to Federers business endeavors through his sponsorship agreement with the Swiss apparel brand On Running, where the 20-time Grand Slam champion holds a shareholder position.

What’s next for Ben Shelton?

After his strong showing at Roland Garros, Shelton is playing at the Stuttgart Open as part of his preparations for Wimbledon. In the third major of the season, the 22-year-old will be looking to improve his fourth-round record he managed last season.
