The Duke Blue Devils have always been the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball </a>team everybody loves to hate. Notably, plenty of that has to do with their ability to land the best prospects.



That might be the case again next season. According to a report by Travis Branham of 247Sports, FC Barcelona prospect Sayon Keita will make an unofficial trip to Durham to visit the facilities.



Keita is the top-ranked international recruit for the class of 2027, but he’s reportedly considering making a jump to the 2026 recruiting cycle. He’s a 7-footer from Mali with immense defensive potential.

“Keita is an elite defender that possesses great size, incredible length and is a very fluid mover on the court,” Branham wrote. “He covers immense ground on the defensive end of the court, providing a premier anchor to his team’s defensive efforts.”

Of course, they will face some steep competition to acquire his services, and he should be in no rush to make a decision, as he will have the entire season to choose his next program.



But given Duke’s long history of success at recruiting the best prospects on Earth, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see them get their hands on this highly coveted young man.

For years, Mike ‘Coach K’ Krzyzewski was an absolute institution in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a>, and his work with Team USA also made him one of the most respected figures in the sport.



That’s why it was shocking and disappointing to hear that he was finally ready to ride into the sunset. Back in 2021, even his biggest rival, UNC legend Roy Williams tipped his hat to him:



“Everybody knows it’s coming but Mike’s been fantastic for the game of basketball,” Williams said, per Sportskeeda. “He’s been fantastic for college basketball and he’s been fantastic for the ACC. The greatest rivalry in sports: Duke-North Carolina basketball.”

“He’s been a good friend. He’s been a guy I’ve respected a great deal. He made everybody bring their A-game for years and years and years,” he said. “The only thing wrong with Mike Krzyzewski is he doesn’t play golf, and that’s the only thing wrong with him.”



It’s been years since Coach K decided to call it a career and just sit back. Maybe, he’s finally had more than enough time to work on his golf swing and get back at Williams.

For most of their history, the Duke Blue Devils have been the team everybody loves to hate. That may have to do with their long history of landing the best prospects.



That was especially the case this season, as they were arguably the team to beat in all of <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> because of the plethora of future NBA talent they had in their ranks. 



However, Bruce Pearl has nothing but love for coach Jon Scheyer. That’s why, after watching Tyrese Proctor dominate with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he had plenty of praise for him.

It takes more than just a good tactician to help and inspire young players, and Scheyer has clearly done a solid job in his brief time in charge of the Blue Devils’ basketball program.



Now, it’ll be interesting to see how he works his magic and bounces back after losing so many players to the NBA Draft, including first-overall pick Cooper Flagg.

Even though he’s a coach and not a player, John Calipari is one of the biggest names in<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> college basketball</a>. Of course, the same can be said of the Duke Blue Devils.



That’s why schedulemakers and both basketball programs will make the most of that pull. The Arkansas Razorbacks will meet with the Blue Devils in a highly anticipated Thanksgiving matchup.



With that in mind, coach Calipari fired a rather bold prediction about this game. Talking to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, he said it will be the highest-rated game of the decade.

“Our game last year with Illinois was the highest-rated regular season game,” the coach said. “This game with Duke, my guess is it might be the highest regular season game in the last decade. When it’s played, where it is, who we’re playing. So I’m excited.”

Needless to say, that’s quite a bold prediction. Nevertheless, given all the factors he just mentioned, it seems like he might be right about the unmatched frenzy surrounding this game.



Both the Blue Devils and the Razorbacks enter this season with championship aspirations, but they’ve already learned the hard way that projections are meaningless unless they take care of business on the court.

The Duke Blue Devils lost several players to the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a> this season. Fortunately for them, they will have two top-notch recruits, Cameron Boozer and his twin brother Cayden, to make up for that.



Boozer is currently the third-ranked prospect in most NBA Draft big boards right now, trailing Kansas’ Darryn Peterson and BYU AJ Dybantsa, regardless of the order.



Nevertheless, Nick Crain of Sports Illustrated believes that will change by the end of the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball </a>season, as neither of those players is more complete than Boozer.



<h2>NCAA analyst says Cameron Boozer is the most complete prospect</h2>



“While each has their own legitimate case for earning that honor, depending on how the upcoming season goes, Boozer may have the most complete package of the three,” Crain started. “A combo forward with an NBA-ready frame, he’s incredibly impactful on both ends of the floor and is one of the most important archetypes in the modern NBA. With a great handle for his size, the ability to stretch the floor, along with the versatility and physicality to defend multiple positions, he would fit on any team.”

Of course, it’s still way too early to make this type of projection. Multiple players could also make their case for being the first guy off the board, and Boozer still needs to prove himself.



Whether he’s going to go first overall or not remains to be seen, but even in the worst scenario, it’s hard to envision the young forward being taken outside of the top five.

Cooper Flagg was must-see TV during his freshman season at Duke. The Maine native averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks per game, shooting 48.1% from the field, 38.5% from deep and 84% from the free-throw line.

“It’s something we’ve looked about briefly, but at some point we have to take a deeper look because you want to make sure you’re honoring guys the right way when they come here. It’s clearly a different environment, clearly different circumstances. That’s something we’re going to have to look at,” he added.



After being selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2025 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba">NBA</a> Draft, Cooper Flagg debuted with the Texas team in the Summer League. His first matchup was a much-anticipated game against the Los Angeles Lakers of Bronny James.&nbsp;



Flagg finished the game, which peaked at over a million viewers, with 10 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block. While he struggled to score (5-of-21 from the field and 0-of-5 from deep), he showed glimpses of his brilliance.

Throughout the course of their history, the Duke Blue Devils have had a myriad of future NBA players on their rosters. This year alone, they had five alumni taking their talents to the pros.



That’s why Cameron Boozer, their newest star, is also projected to be next in line. He’s the son of another former Blue Devil and NBA player, Carlos Boozer, and he’ll likely be another one-and-done player.



Wth that in mind, NBA Draft expert Jonathan Givony put together his way-too-early mock draft, and he thinks that Boozer will go to the Brooklyn Nets with the third-overall pick.

Needless to say, this is just a projection, and a lot of things can change until that day. But judging by the Nets’ current roster, it’s hard to envision a more promising outcome for them next season.



At least, their woes won’t go unnoticed and unrewarded. If Boozer turns out to be as good as projected, he might be what the franchise needs to finally get the monkey off their backs.

The Duke Blue Devils lost a plethora of talent to the NBA Draft. From <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/cooper-flagg" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cooper Flagg</a> and Kon Knueppel to Khaman Maluach, Sion James and Tyrese Proctor, they will have a tough time getting past those absences.



Fortunately, it seems like they will have their defensive stalwart right back on the court for the start of the season, as Maliq Brown could make his long-anticipated return sooner than expected.



Brown, who missed 13 games last season because of a left shoulder injury and wasn’t a factor in March Madness, is ahead of schedule in his recovery, says coach Jon Scheyer.

“Maliq is weeks ahead of schedule from his surgery, where he’s at,” Scheyer said. “He dislocated his shoulder twice and you have to be really cautious with that. He won’t do contact still for another 4-8 weeks, but he can do everything 5-on-0. He’s shooting, he’s handling, he’s passing. Just seeing him out there is great.”

The 6-foot-9 senior forward will be the Blue Devils’ longest-tenured and most experienced player, not to mention their defensive anchor, so having him back on the court will be a huge boost.



He averaged just 2.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game in 26 games last season, but his ability to guard multiple positions and defensive prowess were a big factor in this team’s success.

Cameron Boozer has arrived on campus with some big shoes to fill. Not only is he the son of former Duke and NBA big man Carlos Boozer, but he’s supposed to be the face of the program after <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/cooper-flagg" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cooper Flagg</a> left.



Fortunately for him, he will be surrounded by talented players, including his twin brother Cayden, and he’ll also have Jon Scheyer’s guidance in what will most likely be his lone season in college.



With that in mind, college basketball analyst Jamie Shaw of On3 dug deep into his tape and the Blue Devils’ roster and projected lineup to predict his freshman-year stats.

“One guy we didn’t even get to touch on was (Cam) Boozer,” said Shaw. “You know, he’s another one kind of along the lines of (Darryn) Peterson where he’s going to come in this year and he’s going to put astronomical numbers from day one. I mean, you can pencil him in for 18 (points), 7.5 (rebounds), and 2.5 assists from the jump and possibly just grow from there. He’s going to be on the biggest stage with Duke. You know, so, he’s going to put up numbers.”

Of course, projections can always fail, and once the players take the court for the first time, everything that has been written and said about them will be pretty much meaningless.



But if his high school tape is any indicator of success, the Duke Blue Devils could have one of the three or maybe even two best players in all of <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> next season.

The wait is finally over. For the first time ever, the fans will get to watch <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/cooper-flagg" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cooper Flagg </a>on the court and wearing a Dallas Mavericks uniform, even if it doesn’t count.



The first-overall pick will make his debut in the NBA Summer League against Bronny James and the Los Angeles Lakers. He won’t have his star teammates by his side, but it will still be nice to watch him shake off the jitters.



For that, he will have to trust fellow rookie Ryan Nembhard, who excelled at Gonzaga before getting a two-way contract with the Mavs. While his roster spot isn’t guaranteed, it seems like Flagg likes his game.

“He’s a good dude,” Flagg said of Nembhard. “Super athletic, high energy, and seems to understand the game well. I think it’ll be fun to play with him. I’m excited for that connection.”

They didn’t get to face off against one another in college, and they’re clearly projected to have different careers at the next level. Even so, this could be the beginning of a strong partnership.



Nembhard might be on a two-way contract, but with Kyrie Irving out and D’Angelo Russell’s injury woes, perhaps the Mavs will have to turn to him at some point in the season.

Cameron Boozer is about to start his collegiate career with the Duke Blue Devils, a team coming off a Final Four appearance in the 2025 March Madness tournament. Led by Cooper Flagg, the iconic program, led by Jon Scheyer, went all the way to the semifinal, where the Houston Cougars stopped them to advance to the championship game.



Flagg is officially a member of the Dallas Mavericks, leaving a void on his former team. The Blue Devils added a couple of intriguing pieces for the 2025-26 season, starting with Boozer, a five-star recruit ranked the No. 3 player in the country.



Comparisons between Boozer and Flagg are already here. College basketball analyst Matt Norlander believes that Boozer will fill Flagg’s shoes in his freshman season. During Friday’s episode of the CBS Sports HQ, Norlander shared his expectations for the forward.

“He’s more powerful than Flagg, he’s a better rebounder than Flagg. I could argue he’s a better rim protector than Flagg,” Norlander said.

Boozer is already in the gym, preparing for a new season. He’s coming off shooting 43% from deep in his final high school year, but Boozer is working to improve his long-range shooting.



The Blue Devils’ official X account shared a video of the freshman working in his game. Boozer’s 3-point shooting appeared to be a focus of attention during his drills. He’s a menace near the rim and a terrific rebounder. If he manages to unlock his 3-point shooting, Boozer will be one of the most sought-after players in the 2026 NBA Draft.

The Duke Blue Devils had the most-talked-about player in all of <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball">college basketball</a> this season. Cooper Flagg was a one-man show, even in a team stacked with talent.



That’s why now that he’s taken his talents to the Dallas Mavericks, there’s a big void in Jon Scheyer’s team. The Blue Devils lost five players to the NBA Draft, and that’s going to be hard to overcome.



Even so, NCAA analyst Matt Norlander of CBS Sports doesn’t seem to be that worried. In his latest column, he argued that freshman Cameron Boozer would be more than capable of picking up the slack because of his Duke heritage.

“There’s not been a player that has been affected and literally won more than Cameron Boozer,” Norlander argued. “He brings a high degree of winning. Obviously, there’s a pedigree with his father having played at Duke.”

Of course, every player is unique, and Boozer and Flagg are both great and promising in their own ways. Even so, it’s nice to know that the Blue Devils will have someone to pick up the slack.



Boozer will be joined by his twin brother Cayden, who, despite not being as highly-touted as a prospect as he is, is also projected to be a lottery pick and an impactful player in Durham.

Most people agreed that the Duke Blue Devils had the most stacked roster in all of<a href="http://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> college basketball </a>last season. That became even more evident when five of their players were drafted.



Now, Jon Scheyer will need everybody to step up to make up for the players he lost to the pros. That’s especially true when we talk about five-star recruit Cameron Boozer.



Boozer should be the focal point of the Blue Devils’ offense as a freshman. With that in mind, Rodd Baxley of the Fayetteville Observer believes he’s going to draw enough buzz to become a top-three pick in 2026.

“A winner on the travel circuit and as a high school player in Miami, Boozer will be the centerpiece of a roster that has to replace its starting lineup,” wrote Baxley. “The 6-foot-9, 230-pound forward will be among the favorites to be ACC Player of the Year and an All-American as a freshman. As a scorer on multiple levels, elite rebounder and versatile defender, Boozer is exactly the type of player NBA teams are aiming to build around. He’ll most likely be a top-3 pick in 2026.”

Needless to say, a lot can go sideways from today until the day of the big event, so it might be way too early to determine that Boozer will definitely be taken in the top three.



Nevertheless, judging off talent alone, it’s hard to argue that he’s one of the three best players about to take the court in college. We’ll have to wait and see, but he has the makings of a star.

Jon Scheyer and the Duke Blue Devils couldn’t finish the job last season. Despite being considered the best team in <a href="http://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> and having the best player in the nation, they still fell short.



It feels like they could’ve achieved great things had Cooper Flagg chosen to stay in college. Even so, while his time on campus was short-lived, it was still significant.



However, now that he’s gone to the Dallas Mavericks, his former coach can finally take some friendly jabs at him, and that’s what he did in an appearance on Justin Robinson’s ‘The Brotherhood’ podcast.

“You know, and that’s, when we said we were gonna do this, I wasn’t thinking about getting questions from Cooper,” Scheyer responded. “The fact that he has a question […] I don’t know how amazing I wanna say it was, but, it was amazing beating him in a horse. Yeah. Every day after practice.”



Cooper Flagg might be the first-overall pick and about to become an NBA superstar, but it seems like Coach Scheyer will forever hold bragging rights over him.
