The Target Center was the stage where the Indiana Fever managed to be crowned against a worthy rival in the Minnesota Lynx in the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup. This victory still has double value, given that the team coached by Stephanie White managed to overcome their rival without their biggest star, Caitlin Clark, on the court.

A groin injury forced one of the league’s biggest current stars to miss her third consecutive game, meaning Clark had to both enjoy — and endure — her teammates’ victory from the bench.

White is one of the first people who would love to have the former Iowa star back on the court, but she also understands that there’s an important difference between progressing well from an injury and the level of comfort the player feels with it.

“Making progress and feeling good are two different things, and we want to make sure that she feels good,” the experienced head coach stated to the press.

An important title for the Fever

There’s no doubt that Caitlin Clark’s absence on the court can be a significant blow for White and her teammates during the game, but despite that, they managed to push through a tough matchup to come out on top against the Lynx.

Even without the former Iowa star on the floor, the Fever cruised past their opponent with a commanding 74–59 win to secure their first-ever Commissioner’s Cup title. Leading the charge were Natasha Howard and Aliyah Boston, each recording a double-double in the victory.

When will Clark return to the court?

Caitlin Clark suffered a significant groin injury that forced her to miss the last three games with her teammates—two in regular league play and the most recent one, the final against the Lynx held at the Target Center.
