Already qualified for the upcoming WNBA Playoffs, what’s most impressive about this team is how they’ve managed to maintain a high level of play despite the absence of their biggest star, Napheesa Collier. The Minnesota Lynx — one of the top title contenders — are hopeful to have their forward back in action in the near future.
In early August, an MRI confirmed a right ankle sprain for Collier following the game against the Las Vegas Aces. Although she has yet to return to the court, Reeve’s team remains confident they’ll have their star back before the end of the regular season.
According to reporter Madeline Kenney, via her official account on X (formerly Twitter), Collier’s return to the court remains uncertain. However, there is continued optimism within the Lynx facilities regarding her recovery.
“The Lynx don’t have an established return to play date for Napheesa Collier yet, Cheryl Reeve said,” the insider reported via @madkenney. “Collier is progressing well and remains on track to return at some point before the end of the regular season.”

Napheesa Collier (C) #24 of the Minnesota Lynx is escorted off of the floor after she was hurt on a play against the Las Vegas Aces in the third quarter of their game at Michelob ULTRA Arena on August 02, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Lynx defeated the Aces 111-58.
What happened to Collier?
Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier suffered a right ankle sprain in a game against the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Paradise, Nevada. The MVP frontrunner landed awkwardly on a teammate’s foot, and although she avoided a major injury, the team announced at that time that she would be sidelined for at least two weeks.
