Boxing legends are not very pleased with Canelo Alvarez‘s decision of fighting WBA Light heavyweight Champion Dmitry Bivol on May 7. First, Julio Cesar Chavez and Mike Tyson pointed out another boxer as the best option to make Alvarez struggle in the ring; now a Ukrainian boxer is the one that says this clash should not happen.

Both Tyson and Chavez shared their thoughts about who is the only man thatcurrently can represent a real menace for Canelo. His name is David Benavidez, the former two-times Super middleweight Champion and now a contender.

Despite these opinions, of which the Mexican superstar has said he does not care about them, Canelo Alvarez is not interested in giving Benavidez, Jermall Charlo, Demetrius Andrade, and the rest of the boxers in the line a chance to meet him in the ring. Instead, he urges them to fight each other to then clash against the winner.

The Ukrainian boxer that is against Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol

A legendary boxer, and one of the all-time-greats of Ukraine boxing, has stated about the fight the current Pound for Pound King Canelo Alvarez is holding against Dmitry Bivol. He totally is against it, not for sports reasons but for politics, as Bivol is a Russian athlete: former Heavyweight Champion Vladimir Klitschko.

Every sanction, and it’s nothing against the personalities or athletes, it’s about the politics of Russia. Every Russian representative, in this case, needs to be sanctioned because this way we show to Russia that the world is against his senseless actions and there is no good in them.”, said Klitschko in an interview for BBC 5 Live Radio.

Dr. Steelhammerhas gone deeper on his position about how the sports world should react with the Russian representatives: “None of us are enjoying what is happening…To isolate Russia from all sporting competition is not an act of aggression. We believe sanctions on different levels, including sport, are crucially important…If you take away sporting competition the athletes will ask their leader, ‘Why will nobody compete against us?’I repeat, this is not against the athletes, it’s in the name of peace in Ukraine.” stated Vladimir forThe Mirror.
