One of the main consequences for Canelo Alvarez of being the face of boxing is that no matter what he does, there will be a reaction. Positive or negative; for or against. After announcing his next fight, against Dmitry Bivol on May 7, the opinions started to flow. For those who criticize him for his choice, Eddie Hearn, Alvarez's boxing business partner for 2022, has a message.

Recently, Canelo has defined Dmitry Bivol as the current best Light heavyweight boxer on the planet. The Russian's credentials are not far away from the Mexican's opinion: he is the reigning WBA 175-pound World Champion since 2017, with 7 defenses of his title so far, and still undefeated.

If the Guadalajara native accomplishes to defeat Bivol, he will add another title for his current status: the Undisputed World Super middleweight titlist, four-weight class Champion, and two-time Light heavyweight titleholder.

Eddie Hearn's opinion about Canelo Alvarez facing Dmitry Bivol

The Matchroom Boxing Chairman will be the business partner of Canelo throughout 2022, but he is also his friend, as Alvarez has confirmed. Unifying these two sides of his relationship with the Pound for Pound boxing king, Hearn has shared his position about this fight.

"Despite how good is Canelo, I think this is a really tough and dangerous fight. Moving into 175 pounds is a disadvantage, most of all if you are facing a young Light heavyweight that has not suffered too much damage and is in his prime. (Bivol) He is a Top-Class fighter so  I am worried", stated Hearns according to Izquierdazo.

The only time Canelo Alvarez has fought in the 175 pounds was in 2019, against the also Russian Sergey Kovalev. He achieved a victory by the way of knockout to become the WBO World Light heavyweight Champion at the time.
