The Los Angeles Dodgers are the team to beat in Major League Baseballand it’s not even close. They won the 2020 World Series and look like they have the most overpowered roster on the planet right now.

That’s why you’d think that they don’t need to add even more firepower or arms to an already intimidating squad. Then again, all great things can get better, and the Los Angeles Dodgers aren’t the exception to that rule.

And, according to Dodgers insiderJorge Castillo of theLos Angeles Times, the defending World Series winners could strengthen their rotation by adding Trevor Bauer, the best available free agent right now.

Los Angeles Dodgers Could Pursue Trevor Bauer

“The Dodgers don’t need to acquire a frontline starting pitcher this offseason. They have six proven major-league starters on their 40-man roster and a promising prospect poised to help for their title defense in 2021. Retaining Justin Turner and bolstering the bullpen are the priorities this winter. That doesn’t mean the Dodgers won’t acquire a frontline starting pitcher this offseason,” started the report.

“Bauer would cost only money. The Newhall Hart High graduate and former UCLA star previously said he would sign only one-year deals throughout his career but appears to have changed his mind. The Dodgers would likely entertain adding Bauer only if he is open to a short-term deal, it concluded.

Obviously, this may seem like a long shot right now. The Dodgers have the money and could certainly open up some space for him in the rotation, but that doesn’t mean that he’s just going to sign with them.

Bauer has often been controversial and outspoken and maybe joining a contending team like the Dodgers isn’t what he’s looking for right now. Then again, we’ve seen these kinds of things happen over and over.
