It’s not a secret that Trevor Bauer is one of the most dominant pitchers in Major League Baseball right now. Even for a shortened season, he had a career year with the Cincinnati Reds, earning the National League Cy Young award.

That’s why it’s not unusual to see multiple teams lining up to acquire his services now that he’s a free agent, even though he’s often been called out for being so outspoken and controversial on social media.

Then again, not many teams could meet his financial aspirations. He’s coming off a great season and, understandably, is looking to cash in on a huge deal, which is going to be difficult in the Covid-19 economy.

Dodgers And Mets Could Only Sign Trevor Bauer On A Short-Term Deal

That, summed to some team’s payroll situation, makethe Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels Bauer’s most-likely destinations, but MLB.com’s Jon Heyman recently said that the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets could also sign him if he takes a short-term deal:

“Mets have interest in Trevor Bauer but likely on a shorter deal (4 years or fewer). Dodgers could, too, but definitely short-term there. Other teams suggest they have the impression Bauer prefers a longer deal. Agent Rachel Luba said: “He’s open to all different types of structures” Heyman reported on Twitter.

Before this offseason, Trevor Bauer had only signed one-year deals. He claimed that he made a bet with one of his best friends and that he’d never break it. Now, however, it seems like he’s come to reasons and is willing to sign a long-term contract.

Clearly, joining the Mets or Dodgers would give him a much bigger chance to win a World Series in the foreseeable future, but you just never know what’s going through Trevor Bauer’s mind.
