For years, people have debated whether LeBron James is a better player than Michael Jordan or if they could have dominated in another era of the NBA the same way they’ve done it in their respective times.

Most young fans believe that James is better, more complete, and more athletic than Jordan. Old-school fans, however, think that Jordan’s competitiveness, toughness, and record in the NBA Finals areenough to settle the debate.

Well, that’s also the case if you were to ask Houston Rockets legend Hakeem Olajuwon, who recently claimed that Jordan is a ‘far superior’ player to LeBron, although you shouldn’t even try to compare them.

Hakeem Olajuwon Says You Can’t Compare Michael Jordan And LeBron James

(Transcript via FanSided):

“When people start comparing him with Jordan, then that’s not a fair comparison. Jordan was a far more superior player in a very tough league, and he was very creative. That’s not taking away anything from LeBron because he is a great player, but it is not a fair comparison because Jordan is a far superior player.”

“People love to talk about this. For sure LeBron is the greatest human to play basketball. That’s not even a question, but it’s not even fair to Michael Jordan to say that. LeBron is years later and the game has evolved. And every athlete is pretty much better than the athletes were 30 years ago. If you put MJ in the league now, that would be an interesting discussion but if you just want to say who is the best human to ever play basketball, I think it’s pretty obvious.”

This doesn’tstrike as a surprise coming from ‘The Dream’, the only star that could win an NBA Championship when Michael Jordan was in his prime. Then again, he did it when he retired for the first time, so it’s not like he beat His Airness en route to a ring.

Even so, arguing about who the best player is could sound kind of futile right now. Michael Jordan is an all-time great and he gave the game everything he got and the same can be said of LeBron James.
