Everybody’s trying to guess what’s going to happen with Giannis Antetokounmpo. The reigning MVP and Defensive Player of the Year is eligible to sign the largest contract in NBA history, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to do it.
There are some who believe that Giannis is going to take a pay cut to help the Milwaukee Bucks build a better supporting cast around him, others speculate he’s going to get as much money as he can, while others – most people – believe that he’s going to force a trade out of the team.
Giannis, on the other hand, has repeatedly talked about his desire to stay with the franchise and build a winning culture there, but we’ve already seen countless players say those kinds of things just to leave the team when things get hard.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Hints At Desire To Stay With The Milwaukee Bucks
However, it seems like the Greek Freak is for real, as he recently took to Twitter to give Milwaukee Bucks some hope about the future, claiming that he hopes to break Michael Redd’s franchise scoring record.
That means that, at least for the time being, Giannis has no intention of leaving the team whatsoever. Then again, another failed playoff run in 2021 could change that in the blink of an eye.
Giannis can sign a supermax contract extension worth between $220-240 million. The Milwaukee Bucks don’t have much time to convince him to stay and must be quite aggressive in their pursuit of bona fide stars to join him. Otherwise, they’d be forced to trade him away rather than losing him for nothing.
