The Boston Celtics entered the season with high hopes and expectations once again. They were on the verge of making it to the NBA Finals in the bubble in Orlando but couldn’t get past the Miami Heat.

This year, the Celtics were expected to take a step forward. Led by their young star duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, they were one of the most promising squads out of the Eastern Conference.

Fast-forward to today and the Celtics are in serious jeopardy of playing the play-in tournament for one of the final two playoff spots, and Tatum knows that they haven’t lived up to the task for most of the year.

Jayson Tatum Knows The Celtics Can Do Better

“Certain games here and there, we’ve done that in a second half and have been able to win. Obviously today we dug ourselves too deep in a hole. Gave ourselves a chance, we’re always gonna do that. But you know, I know that we can do better, do more, especially in the beginning of the games. A little bit more toughness and play faster. Because when we get stops in the second half, play fast, play to our advantage we look pretty good. So we just got to start like that,” the young forward said after the loss to the Heat.

The Celtics are as talented as they are young but they haven’t been able to stay healthy for most of the season. Also, their once tough defense seems long lost and they’ve failed to execute down the stretch more often than not.

Then again, a team like this just needs a couple of good games in a row to get into a rhythm, and they’re not the kind of squad you want to meet come playoff time, so you better not count them out already.
