The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the biggest contenders in the NBA right now and they will be so for as long as LeBron James and Anthony Davis are healthy. Then again, they need someone else to help them carry the load.
According to multiple reports, the Lakers have been far from satisfied with Marc Gasol. The Spaniard’s best years are clearly far behind him and they’ll be quite active in the next couple of days to add a suitable replacement.
And, according toHarrison Faigen of Silver Screen and Roll, they’ve been doing their due diligence on Indiana Pacers’ star Myles Turner. As per his report, they could try and trade Montrezl Harrell, Wesley Matthews, Marc Gasol, and draft assets to get him.
NBA Rumors: The Lakers Could Trade Multiple Players For Myles Turner
“If the Lakers are going to make a move for Turner, it would be on some level a tacit admission that they’re unsatisfied with their current center rotation, right? So if they really want him, they could potentially try what I call the ‘Scrap It and Start Over’ deal. The Lakers would also probably have to include a pick of some kind here, and just for posterity, we should note that if the Pacers did demand more value… Alex Caruso works in place of Marc Gasol,”Faigen started.
“(…)At just 24, Turner is one of the league’s best defensive big men and a versatile offensive player who could potentially be the perfect frontcourt complement to Anthony Davis for years to come, and the exact kind of more traditional big man the internet is convinced the Lakers are missing,” the report concluded.
The Pacers have reportedly explored the market for Turner multiple times in the past but it’s unclear if they’re actually willing to part ways with their defensive anchor and one of the best shot-blockers in the league, so we’ll have to wait and see.
