With just one game left in the NBA regular season, the Golden State Warriors face a pivotal showdown against the Los Angeles Clippers. A victory would lock in the Warriors’ playoff spot, while a loss could leave their fate uncertain. Speaking on the matchup, Stephen Curry emphasized its magnitude, likening it to a “Game 7” scenario.

The Warriors squandered a key opportunity earlier in the week, falling 114-111 to a shorthanded Spurs team missing stars Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox. However, they bounced back with authority, dominating the Trail Blazers 103-86 in their next outing.

After the win, Curry shared his perspective on the high-stakes game ahead. “I don’t want to be too dramatic. It should be like a Game 7 kind of vibe,” Curry said. “You win and you control your destiny on a guaranteed playoff series. You lose, you roll the dice“.

A win against the Clippers would secure the Warriors the sixth seed in the Western Conference and a direct playoff berth. A loss would likely drop them to seventh, forcing them into the play-in tournament unless the Timberwolves also lose to the Jazz.

Curry addresses injury concerns for Clippers game

The 37-year-old point guard suffered a thumb injury late in the first quarter of the game against Portland, an aggravation of an earlier injury sustained in January. Although Curry briefly left the game, he returned to play in the second and third quarters.

Speaking to reporters postgame, Curry gave an update on his condition. “From what I know, just an aggravation,” Curry explained. “The same thing [as the earlier thumb injury], but hopefully it wasn’t anything serious. I just know it hurts right now, but I’ll be all right“.

Curry reassured fans that the injury wouldn’t prevent him from suiting up for the Warriors’ most critical regular-season game. “I’m feeling great,” Curry declared. “Ready to play Game 82 on Sunday. Excited about it“.

Draymond Green backs Curry’s ‘playoff atmosphere’ prediction

Warriors forward Draymond Green echoed Curry’s sentiments, predicting a playoff-like environment for the clash with the Clippers. “[It will be] like a playoff game,” Green said. “Super intense. Two teams fighting for their playoff lives. Expected to be a very physical, high-intelligent, high-level basketball game“.
