After the Golden State Warriors lost Kevin Durant in free agency, as well as Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry due to injuries, the Dubs couldn’t compete the way they did from 2015 through 2019, changing everything for them and the rest of the league.

The Warriors went from being the best team in the league to the worst in the entire NBA season, posting a 15-50 record at the end of the campaign. Needless to say, they weren’t invited to the bubble and everybody forgot about them during the 2020 NBA playoffs.

Well, now they’re ready to come back stronger than before and even though Klay Thompson went down once again with a season-ending injury, the Dubs are ready to show that they aren’t done in the league. Stephen Curry is ready to lead his team to compete again and the rest of the teams should be worried about that.

Stephen Curry talks on LeBron James rivalry after Lakers championship

Things changed a lot during the Warriors’ absence from the playoffs, especially in the West. LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers dominated throughout the whole postseason, beating rivals easily until they won the 2020 NBA title.

Now people are excited to see the Lakers going against Curry and his Warriors in the upcoming campaign in one of the best duels in the conference. Not even the Lakers could compete against the Lakers and now the Warriors are seen as the only team that can put the Lakers in trouble.

Steph had a big rivalry with LeBron James during their good years. They clashed in the Finals in four consecutive seasons and Curry remembers those moments very well. However, he’s not too focused on those things. Talking with Complex, Curry reflected on his rivalry with Bron.

“But I think at the end of the day, if you get caught up in that, you’re already at a disadvantage just because there’s so many other teams and other players at the top. And what Bron did in the Finals, or in the bubble season this year, and what he continues to do every year—it’s truly remarkable and unbelievable. I love that competition.”

Curry claimed that he’s over that Warriors-Cavaliers narrative and he wants his team to be competitive and contending every single year regardless of the rivals they can find along the way.

“I want to be in that conversation every year, no matter who it is. Forever, it’s going to be hard to get rid of the four year back and forth between the Warriors and Cleveland, but we’re moving on.”

The Lakers made some good moves in the offseason and now are ready to defend their title. The Warriors also moved some pieces in free agency, draft and via trade, putting together a team that can still make some noise in the league.

The Warriors and Lakers are seen by plenty of fans as the favorites to come out of the West this next season, so even if Steph doesn’t want to know anything about it, his rivalry with LeBron will still be a recurrent topic around the association.
