Countless NBA fans claim that Lakers’ starLeBron James should be named the league’s MVP every year, so whenever another player gets the nod, there’s always a lot of back-and-forth and controversies. This time, however, it was The King the one who spoke up.

It’s clear that James has been the more consistent and impactful NBA player for almost two decades. Then again, that doesn’t necessarily translate to being the Most Valuable Player of the season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo beat LeBron James for this year’s MVP award and itwasn’t even close. The 17-year veteran finished with just 16 votes out of 101 and was clearly disgusted about it, even taking it to his Twitter account to voice his anger.

LeBron James Is Pissed Off About MVP Snub

“16 out of 101. Ok cool! I got y’all,” James tweeted. Then, he acknowledged that this year voting pissed him off and claim that he doesn’t understand the voting scale and that he should’ve been the MVP and DPOY in 2013.

“It pissed me off. That’s my true answer. It pissed me off cuz out of 101 votes, I got 16 first-place votes. Not saying the winner wasn’t deserving, but it pissed me off.The voting scale is a little weird to me sometimes. I mean if you take 2012 — if you just stick with me here — 2012-13, I had a chance to be Defensive Player of the Year and also MVP on the same season. And that year Marc Gasol was rewarded as Defensive Player of the Year. But he made second-team All-Defense.It’s a weird thing sometimes. I don’t know how much we are really watching the game of basketball or we’re just in the. narration mode — the narrative,” LeBron said.

Was LeBron James Robbed Of The MVP?

LeBron James had an impressive season from start to finish. Narrative-wise, he should have been this year’s MVP. He led the Lakers back to the playoffs, led the league in assists per game, and endured Kobe Bryant’s loss. That’s cool and worthy of consideration.

Then again, Giannis Antetokounmpo posted unprecedented efficiency on the team with the best record in the league. He led the league in multiple defensive and offensive stats and didn’t even need to crack the 38-minutes per game mark.

The problem with the MVP award is the lack ofstandard criteria. Should we vote for the best player on the best team? Should we vote for the player his team needs the most even if it’s not a good team at all? What does ‘most valuable’ even mean?
