The Golden State Warriors‘ run in the 2025 NBA Playoffs came to an abrupt end this week with a Game 5 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals. Draymond Green reflected on the moment and shared his thoughts on the role of the crowd.

As far as the fan goes… listen, I don’t give it too much thought. I deal with fans a lot. That’s just the nature of being who I am. I don’t get off into it, the forward said on The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis. I don’t really get off into it, the fans are going to say what they’re going to say.”

However, Green later revealed what happened inside Target Center. There were some racist things said in Minnesota. I also don’t like giving these nobodies moments to feel like they’re somebody, you know what I’m saying? So yeah, there were some racist things said. It ain’t the first time. You get in these environments and racist things are said,” he explained.

That led the four-time NBA champion with the Warriors to reflect further. “I’mma tell you: fans are privileged. They are privileged,” said Draymond. “When I say that, I mean they can pretty much say whatever they want. And if we say something back, we get in trouble. We lose money. We get fined. All the punishment comes to us.”

In the same conversation with Baron Davis, Draymond continued discussing what he experienced during the games against the Timberwolves at Target Center. “Yes, they were racist. Am I surprised in that place? No,” he said, although he later acknowledged: “The reception I’ve gotten in Minnesota has not been that bad, and not near as bad as I actually thought it would be.”

He then praised the organization’s response, starting with the team president. “Tim Connelly reached out to me. I woke up to a text from Tim Connelly the next morning. Reached out immediately. ‘Draymond, I’m sorry this happened to you,’” revealed the 35-year-old forward. “I saw (coach Chris) Finch’s comments. I was appreciative of that. The way the organization handled it, I appreciated that.”

What’s next for Draymond Green?

After the Warriors’ elimination, speculation has swirled about the NBA future of several players on the roster. Recently, reporter Brett Siegel shared insight into what Golden State reportedly plans to do with Draymond Green.

The only instance Green could potentially be traded is if he went to (Mike) Dunleavy and (Joe) Lacob and asked for a trade. This won’t happen, nor does Draymond envision himself playing for another team without Steph (Curry), sources said,” Siegel stated.
