The New York Giants and the Buffalo Bills will face off on their first NFL preseason game of 2025. With that in mind, the questions are regarding the team’s respective quarterbacks. Will Josh Allen suit up? Will Russell Wilson have some snaps as well?

Eyes are especially on the Bills, as they are a Super Bowl contender. However, head coach Sean McDermott was really clear: Josh Allen won’t see any snaps on this game.Josh will not play this week. The starters, the ones, will play give or take one quarter, and then it’ll flow from there,” McDermott said to the press. Hence, we might see starters, just not the MVP.

Therefore, it’s Mitch Trubisky the one who will get the snaps when the Bills‘ starters are on the field. “We get a chance to look at Mitch and some of the other quarterbacks. We’ll gain live action with the ones, in this case, for Mitch,” McDermott added.

Will Russell Wilson play?

As for the Giants, head coach Brian Daboll was much more cryptic as he didn’t say much. “We’ll talk about it as a coaching staff, and do what we think is best,” he said. So, Russell Wilson might or might not play.

Russell Wilson #3 of the New York Giants talks to reporters during training camp at Quest Diagnostics Training Center on July 23, 2025 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The only thing Daboll did say is that rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart will play. However, he didn’t clarify if he would start or just be a part of the whole rotation. Having said so, if you want to see the rookie, this will be your first chance.

When is Giants vs. Bills played?

The game will be played on Saturday, however, it’ll be on the early slate, as it kicks off at 1:00 p.m ET. The matchup will take place at Highmark Stadium, making the Bills the home team.

This will be both team’s first game on preseason. It will also mark a trip down memory lane for Brian Daboll, who made his name known in the NFL as the Bills offensive coordinator. Now, he gets to face the team he left as he got the Giants head coach gig.
