The 2025 NFL season is just around the corner, and Micah Parsons‘ future remains uncertain. The linebacker has yet to receive a new offer from the Dallas Cowboys, and his frustration appears to be growing rapidly.

Cowboys fans are struggling to understand what the front office is doing. After extending Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, the expectation was that Micah Parsons would be next. Yet, the star pass rusher hasn’t heard anything from the team so far.

Parsons is widely regarded as one of the top players at his position. Unfortunately for him, the Cowboys still haven’t offered a new deal, and playing under the franchise tag is becoming a more likely scenario.

Micah Parsons continues slamming the Cowboys over lack of contract extension

One of the biggest questions in the NFC East is what will happen with Micah Parsons. Without a contract extension in place, he could be forced to play the upcoming season under the franchise tag.

For many fans, that makes no sense. Parsons is not only one of the best at his position, but arguably one of the best players in the NFL overall.

Parsons has made it clear he wants to become the highest-paid defensive player in the league—and he may have a strong case. However, it seems the Cowboys aren’t on the same page, and no offer has been made as of yet.

The linebacker has repeatedly spoken out about the lack of progress. Now, he’s taken things a step further, throwing a subtle jab at Jerry Jones and the Cowboys’ front office.

Micah Parsons arrives at EA Sports presents The Madden Bowl at Orpheum Theater on February 07, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

“We obviously wanted to get done early,” Parsons said on the Six Feet Under podcast. “We want that relief off our backs. But, obviously, ownership is always gonna make it drag out, make it more complicated than it has to be. Lack of communication and that standpoint, but, you know, I just always say, God has me this far, he ain’t done with me yet, so, you know, I just just keep working, keep going, and then when it comes, I’m gonna be ready. But, you know, ain’t gonna be no drop off.”

Why haven’t the Cowboys offered Micah Parsons a new contract?

It’s no secret that Jerry Jones is one of the most polarizing owners and general managers in the NFL. He’s made several questionable decisions over the years, and failing to extend Parsons is shaping up to be one of them.

According to reports, Parsons is asking for over $40 million per year—a price tag the Cowboys reportedly aren’t comfortable with. Still, time is running out, and meeting his demands may become necessary before it’s too late.
