After months of speculation surrounding his attitude and contract extension, George Pickens left the Pittsburgh Steelers for the Dallas Cowboys in early May. The deal included the 24-year-old wide receiver and a 2027 sixth-round pick in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. A key figure for “America’s Team,” CeeDee Lamb, shared his thoughts on the arrival of the young receiver for the 2025 NFL season.
For Lamb, building strong team chemistry with another key weapon like Pickens is important. Both receivers will look to support Dak Prescott on offense and help make Dallas a competitive franchise in the league after several disappointing seasons.
Pickens’ time with the Steelers, while statistically solid, was also marked by immaturity and on-field issues, which ultimately led head coach Mike Tomlin to move on from him before the end of his rookie contract. Lamb, however, sees none of that in his new teammate in Dallas.
Lamb’s admission about Pickens
“He’s actually a chill guy. As far as winning goes, and I mean just being happy in an organization, not saying he wasn’t, not saying that he was, but I mean you never know. He hasn’t stopped smiling since he got here, so I’ll start with that,” Lamb admitted about Pickens in an interview with Cowboys‘ official website.
“I knew who he was as a player, obviously just watching him with the Steelers and how passionate he is about the game, I think they kind of get it confused once you’re so passionate about something you’re willing to do anything for,” Lamb also said.
A healthy rivalry between Lamb and Pickens
The addition of Pickens aims to strengthen the Cowboys’ aerial offense, forming a dynamic duo alongside Lamb. Contrary to what some might expect, there’s camaraderie rather than competition between the two. “We both ones. It ain’t no A, B, none of that. It’s one. You look over there, you see one. You look over here, you see another one. So do what you gotta do with that,” Lamb said, via DLLS Cowboys.
