The NFL has delivered major news involving the Dallas Cowboys, announcing a new addition to their offense that could reshape their 2025 season. In a blockbuster move, wide receiver George Pickens is heading to Dallas, where he’ll join forces with CeeDee Lamb, quarterback Dak Prescott, and head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

Following the NFL Draft, the Cowboys were in search of a strong complement to Lamb in their receiving corps, someone who could help unlock Prescott’s full potential. Team owner Jerry Jones made it happen by acquiring Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers, a move that instantly strengthens a roster already filled with talent.

Although rumors had linked Pickens to Dallas for weeks, it was Lamb who seemingly confirmed the move ahead of time. On Tuesday night, he posted a GIF of a character from The Simpsons waving hello, a subtle but effective nod that fans immediately recognized as a signal of Pickens’ arrival.

The fanbase erupted as speculation turned into celebration. With Pickens officially in the mix, the Cowboys now boast an offensive lineup that could be among the most dangerous in the league. Expectations are sky-high as the team eyes a deep playoff run this season.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys received Pickens along with a 2027 sixth-round pick. In return, the Steelers acquired a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round selection. “Cowboys get George Pickens and a 2027 6th rounder. Steelers get a 3rd rounder and 2027 5th rounder,” Rapoport reported on X.

With this trade, the Cowboys are signaling an all-in approach for the upcoming NFL season. After a frustrating campaign last year, Jones is determined to build a championship-caliber roster. The addition of Pickens gives Dallas another explosive weapon and raises expectations heading into 2025.

Dallas builds offensive depth ahead of 2025 season

Pickens’ arrival gives head coach Brian Schottenheimer even more flexibility heading into next season. With a stacked offensive group, the Cowboys now have a deeper and more dynamic unit to work with.

Dak Prescott remains the starting quarterback, with CeeDee Lamb locked in as the team’s WR1. Jaydon Blue is expected to play a key role at running back, Jake Ferguson returns as the starting tight end, and now Pickens slots in as a second wide receiver. With that core in place, Cowboys fans have every reason to be excited, but it will be up to Schottenheimer to maximize the talent and build a cohesive starting lineup.
