The New York Giants have started a very interesting rebuilding process under head coach John Harbaugh. At the start of free agency, the priority has been to give weapons to the offense for their young quarterback Jaxson Dart.
In addition to the arrival of Calvin Austin III after not being re-signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Giants have already confirmed Darnell Mooney as new WR. According to Art Stapleton, his previous relationship with offensive coordinator Matt Nagy was key to making this splash happen.
“Mooney had his best NFL season with Matt Nagy as his head coach in Chicago (81 catches, 1,055 yards). They’ll reunite with Big Blue with Nagy as offensive coordinator, and it certainly is appealing that the man who knew how to get the most out of Mooney with the Bears in 2021 will be calling the shots here.”
An impressive WR group for NY Giants
In just a few weeks, John Harbaugh and Matt Nagy have brought a major transformation at the wide receiver position for the Giants. Jaxson Dart will have Malik Nabers, Darnell Mooney, and Calvin Austin III at his disposal.
Jaxson Dart and NY Giants creat high hopes
As if that were not enough, the Giants made one of the biggest signings of the offseason at tight end with Isaiah Likely. Harbaugh knows him perfectly from the years they worked together with the Ravens.
In addition, if his recovery is completed without issues, Dart already knows the potential of Cam Skattebo as a running back. In this scenario, the Giants have suddenly emerged as a possible playoff contender.
