Bayern Munich defeated Boca Juniors 2–1 on Matchday 2 of Group C, securing their place in the Round of 16 at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. Harry Kane gave the German side the lead, Miguel Merentiel equalized for the Argentine team, and near the end, Michael Olise scored the decisive goal.
In the first half, Bayern Munich showcased their dominance, controlling possession for most of the period and creating several dangerous chances. Harry Kane opened the scoring with a left-footed shot inside the box, while Michael Olise and Serge Gnabry came close to extending the lead.
Despite being outplayed, Boca Juniors fought hard and created their own opportunities. Kevin Zenon stood out, delivering a free kick and a follow-up shot—both expertly saved by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
In the second half, the Argentine side pushed higher up the field in search of an equalizer—and they found it in the 66th minute with a brilliant goal from Merentiel, who beat two defenders and fired past Neuer from inside the box.
In the minutes that followed, Boca controlled the tempo and avoided major threats. But with just seven minutes left, Kane set up Olise, who finished with finesse to beat Agustin Marchesin and seal the win for Bayern.
With the 2–1 result, Bayern Munich secured their place in the Round of 16. Boca Juniors will now need a big win over Auckland City and must hope that Benfica lose to the German side on Matchday 3 in order to advance.
