Uruguayan soccer star Luis Suarez has left Barcelona this summer after spendingsix succesful years with them in La Liga and then moved to Atletico Madrid.In the final fays of the summer transfer window, Suarez was literally chassed away from the Camp Nou by the Barca boardand President Josep Maria Bartomeu.

The striker has finally spoken about his sudden departure. In an interview for ESPN, he has revealedthat his departure is related to Lionel Messi and the management of the Catalans.

“I think they wanted to remove me from Messi’s side,” he toldESPN. “I can’t find any reason to think that would damage the team, though. We looked for each other constantly on the pitch, but for the good of the team. Maybe they wanted him to play with more team-mates.”

Suarez-Barcelona: The breakup

The decision to leave the club for Atletico Madrid left Suarez heartbroken. In another interview the 33-year-old striker has claimed that it took him several days to accept his forced departure.

“I spent days crying because of the situation that I was going through,” he said, perMarca. “[After] how much I’d enjoyed it, how much I was valued as a player, how much I was loved, how I felt the warmth of the club that gave me a thousand amazing moments. From my debut… I have great memories.”
