The USMNT has played in many venues over the years, and it is very difficult to pinpoint an exact home ground. Mapfre Stadium in Columbus may qualify as a historic stadium for U.S. Soccer, it is where the U.S. began the dos a cero tradition of beating Mexico in World Cup Qualifiers in 2001.

Unlike, for example, Uruguay who plays all their national team games in the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, the United States has played in over 100 venues in 29 states over its entire history. The closest stadium the U.S. called it’s “Official Stadium” was Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, which will be demolished shortly. Some of the most notable victories in RFK include a 1-0 win over Argentina in 1999 and 4-3 come back against Saudi Arabia in 1995.

The USMNT has played a total of 24 games at RFK with their last match being against New Zealand in 2016.They have played 20 matches in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum playing there for the last time in 2000 against Mexico. Most of the matches played against Mexico were not very favorable to the U.S. as it seemed that 90% of the stadium was pro Mexico.

Since the arrival of Soccer Specific Stadiums, Dignity Health Sports Park, has been a home for the US as they have played 17 games and usually play January friendlies in the venue. The USMNT last played there in 2020 against Costa Rica, right before the CODVID-19 pandemic.

The United States soccer team is a reflection of the country, it’s a melting pot, there is no real home venue, no real place they play as a set place, the U.S. can play in Kansas City one game and the cold altitude of Colorado the next.
