AJ Dybantsa snubs LeBron James comparisons, would rather be compared to another NBA star

While everybody would love to be compared to LeBron James, BYU committ AJ Dybantsa feels differently.

AJ Dybantsa has yet to take the floor to play a single minute of college basketball. Even so, he’s been penciled in as the best prospect in the nation for more than a year now.

The BYU product is expected to be one of the first — if not the first — players taken in next year’s NBA Draft, showcasing an impressive combination of size and two-way versatility.

That’s why, during his days with Team USA, they asked AI to determine his most accurate NBA comparisons, and ChatGPT chose Tracy McGrady, Paul George, and LeBron James. Notably, he liked the PG comparison the most.

ā€œI don’t really think there’s anybody compared to LeBron James. That’s crazy,ā€ Dybantsa said. ā€œPaul George is a two-way player, and I value defense.ā€

Of course, at the end of the day, there aren’t two equal players, not even twins. We have to let young prospects walk their own path and take ownership of their own journeys.

Even so, projections and comparisons are always fun, and they can help the fans know what to expect, provided they keep their expectations in check. Will he live up to these comparisons? We’ll have to wait and see.
