NCAAF News: Alabama QB Jalen Milroe drops stern reminder to critics ahead of NFL Draft

Alabama Crimson Tide prospect Jalen Milroe has been under heavy scrutiny after a shaky 2024 NCAA season, and following his NFL Combine performance, the mobile quarterback took a moment to address a narrative around his game with a strong statement.

The 2025 draft class presents many challenges at the quarterback position, with no clear QB1. Opinions vary on talents like Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, Jaxson Dart, Jalen Milroe, and Quinn Ewers, among others. While there’s no shortage of available quarterbacks, there doesn’t appear to be a bona fide NFL-ready prospect—at least one that could be thrown into the field immediately upon arrival.

Milroe is one of the most debated signal-callers in the draft, as his elite athleticism immediately stands out and is his X-Factor. However, his game tape could hurt his stock after a rocky year with the Tide in college football.

However, Milroe remains confident in his game, delivering a bold reminder to scouts and critics after the NFL Combine. So assured is he in his quarterback abilities that he opted out of the physical workouts—a decision that could prove to be a double-edged sword for the Alabama prospect.

“I’m cool with being underrated,” Milroe stated, via Touchdown Alabama on X. “I play in the hardest conference in the country. If I lacked knowledge, I wouldn’t be able to win big games. In 2023, my first year starting, I didn’t lose a single SEC game.”

Milroe speaks about his mobility

Although Milroe didn’t participate in the physical drills during the Combine, priving scouts from watching his second-to-none athleticism, he did speak about the impact his playstyle has on the gridiron.

“That’s something you can’t coach,” Milroe said. “That’s something that everyone can’t do. A lot of people can throw the ball, a lot of people can run, but not a lot of people can do both and that’s hard for a defense. And so when it comes to game playing, you’re going to keep a defensive coordinator up at night.”
