The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the MLB’s most historic and winningest clubs. Founded in 1883 in New York, the Dodgers went through many incarnations before playing in the city and becoming the team we know today. They went through a total of, are you ready?, 12! name changes before taking the moniker Dodgers. They did play in Brooklyn until 1957 while going through this identity crisis when the club moved out west.

While the Brooklyn Dodgers did win two World Series before the move to Los Angeles, the Dodgers are most likely best known for one historical achievement in all of American sport, and that is becoming the first Major League Baseball team to employ and play an African American player. That player being Jackie Robinson, and he played his first professional major league game on April 15, 1947.

Regarding trophies, the Dodgers have won a total of six World Series and twenty-three National League pennants. The Dodgers have had eleven National League MVPs and eight Cy Young Award winners have pitched for the club. So the Dodgers know a little something about fielding stars and winning championships, that is why these MLB inspired soccer jerseys take a little bit of Dodgers history and the city of Los Angeles and we’ve created the ultimate Los Angeles Dodgers MLB soccer jersey!

L.A. Dodgers Home Field inspired jersey

Drawing inspiration from the history of the Dodgers and Dodger Stadium, the legendary home ground of the club, the jersey has a hexagonal pattern that refers to the scoreboard, signs, and different design aspects located around the ballpark.  Built in 1962 the stadium is well accustomed to hosting big time events, Dodger stadium have hosted the 1980 MLB All-Star game, 10 World Series editions, and the World Baseball Classic on two occasions. Dodger Stadium has also been host to a few soccer teams: L.A. Galaxy, Real Madrid, Everton, and Juventus.

On each side of the jersey, there are three stars, six in total, paying homage to the six World Series won by the club in the years 1955, 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981, and 1988. While it’s been a while since the Dodgers lifted the World Series, they have consistently been in the running winning the pennant in 2017 and 2018 and sit first in the NL West in 2020. The 1988 World Series is still very much in the minds of Dodger fans, after a grueling 7 game NLCS series with the New York Mets, the Dodgers would beat their cross-town rivals Oakland A’s in 5 games and Orel Hershiser would be named MVP.

On the sleeve of the jersey is the number 42, in honor of Jackie Robinson. Robinson was not only the first African American to play in the MLB, but he was also a tremendous player, he was a six-time All-Star, he won the 1955 World Series, he was a National League MVP in 1949, and a two time stolen base leader. Robinson’s batting average was a stellar .311 and he hit a total of 137 home runs. More than that, his number, 42, has been retired by every MLB team in honor of the great strides and social message Jackie Robinson’s career had.

On the back along the neck is the year 1883 the year the club was founded. As noted earlier the Dodgers went through many names during their early history, those names were: Brooklyn Grays (1883), Brooklyn Atlantics (1884), Brooklyn Grays (1885–1887), Brooklyn Bridegrooms (1888–1890), Brooklyn Grooms (1891–1895), Brooklyn Bridegrooms (1896–1898), Brooklyn Superbas (1899–1910), Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers (1911–1912), Brooklyn Dodgers (1913), Brooklyn Robins (1914–1931), Brooklyn Dodgers (1932–1957), and Los Angeles Dodgers (1958–present).

L.A. Dodgers Hollywood inspired away jersey

The Dodgers away jersey takes inspiration from Hollywood and the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles. The red star pattern is a characteristic of L.A. when you think of the Hollywood walk of fame and the gold pattern of the logo and team name on the chest is that in homage to the Oscar. The Hollywood elite shine in Los Angeles and the Dodgers don’t want to be an exception, a more Hollywood look that takes you out of the regular white and blue colors of the Dodgers.

On the neck, the word Dodgers is displayed across in the familiar Hollywood sign pattern. If you are ever in Los Angeles the Hollywood sign is a must for every tourist. The sign was placed in 1923 as a temporary advertisement for a local real estate development, but due to the recognition, the sign was left up and became a hallmark of the city. The sign is also home to frequent pranks and acts of vandalism over the years, but it has been restored multiple times and is now protected by the state and a nonprofit organization.

While the red primary color is a rarity for the Dodgers, red is incorporated in the classic team logo and is used on the numbers. We took that concept and played around with it and reversed the color pattern and incorporated the gold. Nothing says Hollywood like sharp dressing and bling and the away jersey shows this as the crest has a sparkle pattern.

The city of angels now has a team dressed for the part! What do you think about our Los Angeles Dodgers MLB soccer jersey? Think the Dodgers can snap that drought and win a World Series for L.A. with these kits?
