New York holds a 2-3 record after opening the regular season with a three-game series against the Astros, securing one win while suffering two losses. They then faced the Marlins, splitting the first two games of the series. Evaluating this start, the Mets have already begun taking action.

Soto, meanwhile, is in the first year of his 15-year, $765 million contract signed in December 2024. Expectations for his performance this season are high, which is why the New York franchise is adding depth to the roster.
