MLB News: Francisco Lindor makes honest admission about slow start with Mets

The first three games of the season haven’t been easy for Francisco Lindor with the New York Mets, and everyone is noticing. He was even forced to make an important admission about his struggles at the plate.

Francisco Lindor hasn’t been as productive for the New York Mets as expected in the first three games of the 2025 season, particularly in the recent series in Houston, where he showed multiple struggles finding his rhythm at the plate.

Addressing his lack of production, Lindor admitted to SNY that he’s willing to put in the work to improve, stating, “I’ve got to do a way better job to be on base and to make things happen. I think once I do that, then the offense is going to continue to get better.”

In his most recent series with the Mets, Lindor contributed virtually nothing to the team—managing just one RBI while striking out three times. By the end of the three games against the Astros, his stats stood at 0-11, disappointing numbers for a player who posted a .273 batting average last season with the team.

It’s worth noting that not everything should be blamed on Lindor, as he himself acknowledged the challenge of facing the Astros’ pitchers, saying, “You’ve got to give credit to Houston—they pitched very well.” In the third game of the series, Lindor failed to produce anything in his four at-bats.

Lindor’s son isn’t a distraction for him

As some may know, Lindor’s child could be born at any moment, but he made it clear this isn’t a distraction for him, nor is it the fault of his child or wife, stating, “This is not my kid’s fault, this is not my wife’s fault.”

Lindor has time to adjust

Losing the first series of the season with the Mets wasn’t easy, but Lindor is just getting started and still has time to make the necessary adjustments for the rest of the MLB season. Projections show he’s expected to have at least 613 plate appearances, 26 home runs, 143 hits, and 90 runs, with a .262 batting average.
