Jordan Walker found himself in an awkward on-field interview with ESPN during a tense third inning of the St. Louis Cardinals‘ game against the Boston Red Sox. The line of questioning, largely focused on basketball, required Walker to multitask his responses while playing outfield as the Red Sox mounted a challenge.

During one segment of the interview, Alex Bregman stepped up to the plate. As Walker continued his outfield duties while mic’d up and speaking with reporters, the Red Sox slugger launched a towering home run. The live television moment caught Walker uttering a mild expletive in reaction to the game-changing hit.

That third inning was a disaster for the Cardinals. Before Bregman’s home run, the Red Sox were leading the game 6-1, giving the visitors a chance to narrow the score. However, by the end of the inning, the home team had already scored 10 runs.

It was more than clear that the Red Sox were going to win the game. It turned into a celebration at home for them. Walker and his teammates tried their best to avoid such a humiliating loss, but in the end, they couldn’t. They had to endure 18 runs and suffer their third defeat on the road.

Jordan Walker: Third Season Without Expectations

This might be another tough season for Walker, who is now entering his third with the Cardinals. Last season, he was limited, but things could improve this time around, as he’s projected to have over 330 plate appearances, 37 runs, 79 hits, 11 home runs, and a .260 batting average. He hasn’t had a season like that since 2023, when he contributed 16 home runs and a .276 batting average.
