Despite the numerous challenges facing the New York Yankees at the start of the 2025 MLB season, including a series of injuries to key players, Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora has expressed confidence in Aaron Boone’s ability to guide the team.

Aaron Boone, who has been under pressure for much of his tenure as Yankees manager, faced constant speculation about his future during the team’s difficult 2023 season. However, the organization stood by him, exercising his option for the 2025 season and later signing a two-year extension that keeps him under contract through 2027.

Speaking to reporters before a spring training game between the AL East rivals, Alex Cora praised Boone, calling him “one of the best” managers in Major League Baseball, according to Bryan Hoch on X (formerly Twitter).

They’re a really good team, managed by one of the best in the business,” Cora said. “Yeah, Gerrit [Cole] is out, but Gerrit was out last year, and they made it to the World Series. … That guy over there, man, I know [Aaron Boone] gets a lot of [crap] from people. But he’s one of the best in the business.” Cora’s statement highlights the respect he has for Boone, even amid the intense rivalry between the Red Sox and Yankees.
