The New York Yankees are in a situation where every player counts to maximize all possible options for run production and tight defense. In this case, Amed Rosario could be on the verge of returning to the team with the goal of helping them once again.
Fortunately, Rosario is not suffering from a severe injury. The Yankees could have him back in less than a week for the series against the Cardinals, according to a report from Chris Kirschner. At this stage of the season, every series is crucial for a team with postseason aspirations.
“Amed Rosario could be activated from the IL on the 19th. With two off days coming, the Yankees could use someone for just three games in St. Louis. That person could then be optioned for Rosario, who said he expected to miss just the minimum amount of time,” Kirschner reported on X.
What Could Rosario Contribute If He Returns to the Yankees?
Although he has only appeared in four games with the Yankees, Amed Rosario has been relatively productive at the plate, with 3 hits in 7 at-bats, contributing an RBI for a .429 average. His hot start shows he is a player who knows how to make the most of his offensive opportunities.
Rosario may not need to be an everyday starter, but he will provide another valuable option for a Yankees team that needs all its healthy players to face the upcoming series and continue fighting for a Wild Card spot.
Rosario also has some playoff experience, having played in seven games with the Guardians in 2022. During that run, he posted a .241 average with a home run and seven hits, striking out 10 times in 29 at-bats.
