Michael Jordan is widely considered the greatest player of all-time in the NBA after all the things he did with the Chicago Bulls. MJ was extremely successful as a player, but unfortunately, he hasn’t replicated that success as the owner of the Charlotte Hornets.
Jordan has failed to pick good players in recent years and that has cost his team. The last good play they had on the roster was Kemba Walker and he left last year because the Hornets refused to pay what he was asking for.
The 2020 NBA draft could be a great opportunity for the Hornets to start turning things around. Nobody knows who is going to be the first overall pick this year and, recent mock drafts have placed LaMelo Ball as the 3rd overall selection of the night.
Michael Jordan gives the ‘go-ahead’ for the Hornets to draft LaMelo Ball
Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer has revealed Jordan’s real feelings about LaMelo and the possibility that he’s traded by the Charlotte Hornets. Only the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors are ahead of the Hornets, with O’Connor predicting Anthony Edwards will join the T-Wolves, and James Wiseman would go to the Warriors.
That would give the Hornets a big opportunity to put their hands on LaMelo, one of the most interesting players on the draft. O’Connor says that in the case that Ball is still free when the Hornets are on the clock, Jordan gave the green light to select the player.
“If the Hornets keep the third pick, league sources say Michael Jordan has given his stamp of approval for the front office to select LaMelo Ball.”
Melo is a very intriguing prospect and nobody people don’t seem to agree on the things he will bring to the league. He can be a great addition to any team in the draft but is also a risky player. He has the tools to be great in the league but can also end up as a bust if he doesn’t work on his game and gets in trouble off the court.
His father could also facilitate his decline if they don’t make the right moves. If he lands in Charlotte, MJ would probably try to keep him in line, even against his father’s wish.
