Although Anthony Davis’ move to the Dallas Mavericks faced heavy criticism, his recent performances have clearly shown his value. After recovering from a tough injury, Davis is slowly returning to form. He scored 34 points in his latest game against the Atlanta Hawks. This has sparked hope among fans that he will reach his best again in the playoffs. Following his strong performance, Daniel Gafford did not hold back in praising Davis. He called him the best playmaker he has ever seen.

ā€œHe (Anthony Davis)’s a student of the game. He understands his positions, where he’s good and where he can improve. He’s a 10-time All-Star, and he’s been around. So I’m just learning and trying to soak up as much knowledge from him…Having him out there makes my job a lot easier,ā€ stated Gafford.

Although the Dallas Mavericks have improved with Anthony Davis’ arrival, they have not been able to maintain consistency. They have even lost key games, such as the April 4 defeat to the Los Angeles Clippers. However, not everything is negative. Jason Kidd has nearly recovered most of his roster. Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington have both returned to play.

The Mavericks still need more time to regain their top form. Accumulating playing time will be crucial for the team to reach its peak. After missing a large part of the season, getting back into a competitive rhythm is vital. The good news is that there are three games left before the NBA playoffs begin. This gives them a chance to improve. However, they must maintain their place in the Western Conference. Their position is not yet secured.

Anthony Davis found what he was looking for in the Mavericks

Anthony Davis has always preferred playing power forward instead of center. In Dallas, he is finally getting that chance. With both Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford healthy, Davis no longer has to anchor the paint alone. This change allows him to focus on what he does best. He can now defend with freedom, crash the boards, and attack from midrange. He no longer wears down in the post on every possession.

ā€œIt makes my job easier, as far as defensively, I’m able to roam and just kinda be like the free safety, just kinda help everybody on the floor…A lot easier for me, less stress as far as guarding every pick and roll, being in every pick and roll, it was good to have one of those guys with me on the floor with me at all times,ā€ confessed Anthony Davis.
