Last Saturday, the NBAforced the Philadelphia 76ers to play vs. theDenver Nuggets even though they could barely fill a roster. Seth Curry tested positive for the coronavirus just two days ago, and they didn’t have many players available due to contact tracing.

The Sixers had to play without Seth Curry, Tobias Harris, Matisse Thybulle, Vincent Poirier, Terrence Ferguson, Furkan Korkmaz, Joel Embiid, and Ben Simmons due to either injury or Covid-19 protocols.

Moreover, they had to force Mike Scott to dress up as an eligible player even though he was injured just so they wouldn’t forfeit the game, taking the court with 7 players, none of them starters.

Sixers Star Joel Embiid Blasts The NBA Over Postponed Games

The NBA didn’t postpone the nationally-televised game and the Sixers lost 115-103. The reasoning behind not postponing the game is that they didn’t report Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid’s injuries in advance.

Then, less than 24 hours later, the league decided to postpone the game between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat because they didn’t have enough healthy or eligible players, which obviously trigger Joel Embiid’s wrath.

“THEY HATE THE PROCESS”, Embiid posted on Twitter, followed by “6 years later, still living rent free in their heads…. YES I WOKE UP AND CHOSE VIOLENCE”.

All teams agreed on the terms of this season, and they knew that this was a possibility. If the rules implied that the Sixers had to report their injuries earlier, then the NBA was in no obligation to call out the game, even if it seemed like the logical option.

This season has been unpredictable and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to get any better until all players are vaccinated. The league has stated that they won’t pause or cancel the campaign, but if this trendkeeps up, it seems like it will just be unsustainable.
