The Los Angeles Lakers season came to an early and unfortunate end. They were the reigning NBA Champions and look poised to make another deep playoff run, but injuries and a revamped Phoenix Suns team thought otherwise.

The Lakers couldn’t replicate the success they had in the bubble and, even though they made several moves in the offseason, their roster was exposed when it mattered the most. Now, they need to make some changes.

So, with a key offseason ahead and plenty of moves to make, Lakers legend Magic Johnson said that the team needs to surround LeBron James and Anthony Davis with shooters, and also called out the latter for his reluctance to play center.

Magic Johnson Says Anthony Davis Needs To Play At The Five Even If He Doesn’t Want To

“Give LeBron and AD a shooter,” Magic said. And also, tell AD he’s going to have to play more center now. You can’t allow him to say, ‘Hey man I don’t want to play center. No no no no no, first of all you’re with the Lakers and we’re trying to win. And for me, I would move LeBron back down, we’re asking him to do too much. You can’t ask LeBron to be the point guard. That means you’re working hard, you’re bringing the ball up, getting everybody into the offense, so when can LeBron rest? You have to understand we want LeBron fresh for the playoffs. So let somebody else bring it to him.”

It’s not a secret that Davis has never been fond of playing at the five spot mostly because of the physical burden he needs to endure. Then again, he just needs to take one for the team and do whatever it takes to win.

Hopefully, Davis will be back at full strength and leave his injury woes in the past, as the Los Angeles Lakers will be the team to beat as long as he and LeBron James are on the hardwood and ready to go.
