By beating the Miami Heat and winning their 17 NBA Championship, the Los Angeles Lakers have now officially tied the Boston Celtics as the winningest team in the history of the NBA Finals.
LeBron James lived up to his promise of leading the Lakers back to the top of the world, while it was made clear that trading away multiple assets and picks for Anthony Davis was worth it, even if he ends up leaving the team.
The purple-and-gold were one of the teams to beat since the start of the season and, contrary to what his doubters thought, they were able to go the distance and get the job done even if it wasn’t always pretty.

Frank Vogel’s pupils were always in control of the situation and the Lakers had a 28-point lead after two quarters. Then, they never took their feet off the gas en route to an impressive106-93win.
NBA fans constantly bashed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Danny Green, and Kyle Kuzma, all year long for their offensive struggles, even filing petitions to ban them from getting a ring, yet they all played a huge part in the team’s seventeenth NBA Championship.
Moreover, this season capped a huge redemption story for a future Hall of Famer like Dwight Howard, while “memeable players” like Alex Caruso, Dion Waiters, Jared Dudley, and even JR Smith (for the second time) also got a ring.
Obviously, with the Lakers being one of the most popular sports franchises in the world, the internet had a lot to say about their triumph, and we’ll show you the funniest memes and reactions about their win in the NBA Finals right here.

The Miami Heat were a solid rival but could never be at full strength, nor keep up with LeBron and Davis at their finest. Then again, they proved that you don’t need to spend a lot of money or tank for years to make it to basketball’s ultimate stage.
Erik Spoelstra, Pat Riley Tyler Herro, Jimmy Butler, and the entire Miami Heat organization should take a lot of pride in what they did this season. They’re clearly building something special and will be back to the Finals in no time. However, the internet will always be merciless.
