All good things must come to an end, especially when it comes to sports. That's why, after two decades in the National Football League, it seems like Drew Brees is finally ready to hang the cleats and retire.

A lot of people expected the future Hall of Famer to retire after last season but he decided to come back for another run at the Super Bowl, leading the New Orleans Saints once again to the playoffs.

Now, however, he's expected to say goodbye to the game - at least on the field - after the end of the season, regardless of if the Saints manage to win the Super Bowl again or not, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Drew Brees To Retire At The End Of The Season, Join NBC

Moreover, Brees is reportedly set to follow Tony Romo's footsteps and join NBC Sports' broadcast starting next season, as they've already signed him to a deal after outbidding ESPN and CBS:

“They thought that last year and he surprised them in March by deciding to come back. This time, he’s got a signed contract with NBC. This time, he’s another year older. This time, he’s played through the 11 fractured ribs, the punctured lung. It’s been a difficult, physical season and I think most people still believe that this will be the final season for Drew Brees in New Orleans and in the NFL before he turns to the broadcast booth," Schefter reported.

Brees is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He's thrown for over 80,000 yards and more than 550 touchdowns, while also being the league's all-time leader in completion percentage. It's been a hell of a run for Brees, and he's a lock to make it to the Hall of Fame as soon as he's eligible.
