The Jacksonville Jaguars believe this could be a great opportunity to make a major impact in the NFL. With new faces not only on the field but also within the coaching staff, Trevor Lawrence will be guided by Liam Coen and also surrounded by several new teammates as they aim to make a strong impression in the season ahead.
There has been plenty of talk in recent weeks about the future of one of the key offensive pieces surrounding the quarterback. The player in question is none other than Travis Etienne, who was rumored to potentially be traded to another team before the start of Week 1.
Addressing the situation, head coach Liam Coen took the opportunity during a press conference following the Jaguars’ early workouts to clarify that the running back will remain with the team.
“He’s done a great job,” the HC firmly stated. “I don’t really understand some of the stuff I’ve kind of seen out there. That’s absolutely inaccurate.”

Trevor Lawrence #16 tosses the ball to Travis Etienne Jr. #1 of the Jacksonville Jaguars during the second quarter against the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium on January 07, 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Etienne was sidelined for his rookie year due to a Lisfranc injury, but he bounced back with consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns before finishing last season with 150 carries for 558 yards and two touchdowns. That’s why the head coach believes in his potential to make a major impact in the upcoming season.

Coen’s take on Brian Thomas Jr.
The Jaguars have reason to be optimistic. After quite some time, Trevor Lawrence will be surrounded by strong offensive talent, including standout rookie Brian Thomas Jr. The WR is expected to be one of Lawrence’s primary targets, and head coach Liam Coen believes they can do serious damage on that side of the field.
“He’s got freakish talents. He’s got some freakish traits,” the HC said, via transcript from the team. “Just his attention to detail in the meeting room setting, being able to answer questions, you see some of his personality come to life as well. But you see, when we get into competitive situations, there’s definitely a little bit of an uptick. You get the feedback from some of these guys, especially when it’s scripted, they’re just kind of, like, again? Again? So, we start doing more call-it, and you start to see especially ‘BT’ come to life.
“The ability for a big dude like him to be able to operate in the slot, run some of the choice and option routes, but also be able to go vertical and catch the ball down the field, he’s been a real pleasure to work with so far.”
