Lamar Jackson leads a team with serious Super Bowl aspirations, especially following their recent acquisitions. The Baltimore Ravens had a strong season last year, though unfortunately for them, the main goal wasn’t achieved. In the upcoming NFL season, they’ll be looking for redemption, and many of them are already anticipating what’s to come.

Recently arrived from the Tennessee Titans, Chidobe Awuzie came close to lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy not long ago, but fate was not on his side at the time. Now, under the guidance of John Harbaugh, the talented cornerback aims to join the exclusive club of Super Bowl ring holders.

ā€œI’ve been there when I was on Cincinnati and we lost,ā€ Awuzie said in a one-on-one interview with Garrett Downing. ā€œSo, that’s definitely a personal goal of mine and something that I’m going to continue to chase as long as I’m in the league.ā€

Awuzie’s mindset is something shared by every member of the Baltimore Ravens roster. Since Lamar Jackson’s arrival in the NFL, the Super Bowl has eluded them, even with the QB being named league MVP twice. Will this be the year they finally achieve it?

Awuzie’s excitement for what’s ahead

Awuzie had a stint with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he narrowly missed the chance to win a Super Bowl against the Rams. He knows firsthand the difficulty of playing in such a competitive division like the AFC North.

ā€œI’m really excited,ā€ Awuzie said on the team website. ā€œI know this is some real dog-eat-dog world out here in this division. It’s really last man standing type of football. You’re gonna really fight and claw to see who’s gonna win each game. It doesn’t matter the person’s record at the time. These games always come down to the wire. I’m excited to go against all these teams, and now being on this side of it, I think I’m on the right side.ā€

It was with the Bengals where the cornerback delivered his best performance since entering the league. There, he recorded 64 tackles, two interceptions, 14 passes defensed, and four tackles for loss. Now, the former Colorado Buffaloes standout will look to improve those numbers while wearing the Ravens jersey.

The significant decision to join the Ravens

After his stint with the Titans, where he didn’t have his best season, Awuzie acknowledged that he carefully considered all his options regarding the future of his career: ā€œWhen I got released from the Titans, it took some time for me to really sit down and figure out what I wanted and where I wanted to go,ā€ he said. ā€œThe same questions I kept asking myself, the Ravens checked every box.ā€

With his arrival in Baltimore now confirmed, the cornerback expressed complete enthusiasm about the challenges ahead with his new teammates.

ā€œI’m fired up,ā€ Awuzie said. ā€œYou’ve got some dogs back there, people that I’ve watched on film. Me and Marlon (Humphrey) came in the same year actually, the draft class, so I’ve been really familiar with his game. Obviously, playing in Cincinnati when I did, seeing some of these guys, how they have progressed and how they make a lot of plays on the field. … I’m excited to be around that and feed off the energy.ā€
