The Dallas Cowboys entered the 2020 NFL season with high hopes and expectations after letting go of Jason Garrett. However, it seems like Mike McCarthy's appointment has done little to fix their woes.

As a matter of fact, in Jason Garrett's teams never started a season 1-3, and even though the NFC East has been nothing short of terrible, McCarthy's first year in charge of the team could end without even making the playoffs.

The Cleveland Browns outplayed the Cowboys from start to finish. They executed well in every aspect of the game, while Dallas' defense continued to prove that it's one of the shakiest in the league.

Mike McCarthy Takes The Blame For The Dallas Cowboys' Poor Start

That's why coach McCarthy took a deep look in the mirror and pointed the finger at the man responsible for his team's subpar start of the season, and that's him, according to an interview with the Cowboys' official site:

“What I don’t like is I don’t like the pattern of the four games that we’ve played. The points are outrageous. The time of possession is totally lopsided and we’re minus-7 in the turnover ratio. That’s not a winning formula (...) We need to do a better job bringing our preparation to the performance, and that starts with me. When your team performs and makes similar mistakes, four weeks is a pattern. This pattern needs to stop. And that starts with leadership," McCarthy said.

To be fair, the Cowboys have faced some pretty tough opponents to start the season in the Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, and Cleveland Browns. Then again, they'd be 0-4 if it wasn't for the fact that the Falcons just can't hold on to a lead.

It's still pretty early in the season and Dallas have enough talent on its ranks to turn this around but thus far, things aren't looking good at all for America's team. At least, they'll face a beatable divisional rival in the New York Giants next week.
