Russell Wilson has officially been chosen by the New York Giants to lead the charge in the upcoming 2025 NFL season. Backed by a pivotal Draft, the front office—working closely with head coach Brian Daboll—has ensured the former Steeler is equipped with a major new weapon out of the college ranks.

Cam Skattebo, one of the standout running backs from last season in the NCAAF, was ultimately selected by the Giants with the No. 105 overall pick. He’s set to make his NFL debut under the bright lights of the Big Apple. With Skattebo in the backfield, Wilson now has a powerful new weapon to elevate his offense moving forward.

The announcement came via the team’s official X account (formerly Twitter), where the franchise revealed the selection with a simple, one-word message—highlighting the significance of this pivotal moment in the NFL Draft.

“Skatteboooooo!!,” the announcement came via @Giants. The RB is coming off a standout season with the Arizona State Sun Devils, which gave him the opportunity to declare eligible at this pivotal moment.

Skattebo’s breakout season

The Giants’ selection of Cam Skattebo is no coincidence. A position group that was severely depleted after Barkley’s move to the Eagles is slowly working its way back to reclaim its former dominance in the NFC East.

The RB’s standout season with the Arizona State Sun Devils caught the attention of several teams. With an unstoppable attitude, which even earned him Offensive MVP honors in the latest Peach Bowl, Skattebo proved he has the immense potential to achieve great things in the league.

Skattebo emerged as a true dual threat in 2024. He racked up an impressive 2,316 yards from scrimmage and scored 24 touchdowns, earning a fifth-place finish in the Heisman Trophy race. In his final game, despite ASU’s double-overtime loss to Texas, he delivered a spectacular individual performance—rushing for 143 yards and two touchdowns, adding eight receptions for 99 yards, and even tossing a 42-yard touchdown pass.
