Aaron Rodgers showed up this Saturday at the Pittsburgh Steelers’ facilities to sign his one-year contract. According to several reports, the deal will give the quarterback $10 million guaranteed, and with incentives, the final amount could be close to $19 million.
Through their social media accounts, the Steelers confirmed the moment with a photo of Rodgers holding a pen and wearing a cap from his new team. The veteran is seen smiling at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
Additionally, in one of the most anticipated details for fans, the star has already chosen the jersey number he will wear. As expected, the legendary number 12 of Terry Bradshaw was not touched.
What jersey number is Aaron Rodgers going to wear for the Steelers?
Aaron Rodgers will wear jersey number 8 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s the same number he used during his last stint with the New York Jets. Although the quarterback made No.12 legendary with the Packers, the Steelers generally do not issue that number, which was worn by Terry Bradshaw (even though the number is not officially retired).
Why is Aaron Rodgers wearing 8 with Steelers?
Aaron Rodgers wears number 8 on his jersey because it’s the number he used during his college football days at the University of California. As mentioned before, he also wore it with the Jets since Joe Namath’s number 12 was retired.
