Reid knows that to get the best out of each member of the roster, he needs players in peak physical condition. With the necessary depth on the squad, Mahomes could have more options to create scoring opportunities.

The offseason provides an opportunity to optimize the 90-man roster, improving overall performance and meeting the salary cap. In that vein, Reid and the Chiefs have not hesitated to part ways with two offensive players.

The two teammates of Mahomes who were released by the Chiefs are none other than running back Keaontay Ingram and wide receiver Justin Lockhart. Ingram was released due to injury, while Lockhart was removed from the injured list.
