With football fans waiting for the 2025 NFL schedule release, Travis Kelce revealed that we should expect to see the Kansas City Chiefs travel to Brazil to play Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, September 5.
While recording the latest episode of the âNew Heightsâ podcast with his brother Jason on Monday, the tight end initially referred to the Chiefsâ season opener as a rumor. After realizing that the episode wouldnât be released until Wednesday, Kelce decided to tell his audience what he knows about Week 1.
âThis isnât out until Wednesday? Yeah, weâre definitely playing in Brazil,â Kelce said, before showing his first sign of complaint about the fixture. âIâll be there, not to do a podcast. Iâll be playing football in the (expletive) heat.â
The NFL has confirmed a couple of fixtures for the Chiefs, including a Thanksgiving game against the Dallas Cowboys as well as a division game against the Denver Broncos on Christmas.

Patrick Mahomes #15 of the Kansas City Chiefs throws the ball to Travis Kelce #87 during the second quarter against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium on September 29, 2024 in Inglewood, California.
The Week 1 game against the Chargers hasnât been announced by the league yet, though Kelceâs comments appear to confirm the reports. Apart from this showdown, itâs also been leaked that Kelce, Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes will have the Super Bowl LIX rematch against Jalen Hurtsâ Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 before visiting the New York Giants on âSunday Night Footballâ in Week 3.

Either way, Kelce appears to be particularly concerned about the season opener. The 35-year-old is already thinking about the weather in Sao Paulo, fearing that the conditions wonât be ideal for an NFL game.
âThereâs just something about getting close to the equator, I donât want to put on football uniform. Iâve been in Jacksonville in September, thatâs (expletive) miserable,â added Kelce, before warning Herbertâs Chargers and the NFL that heâll still do whatever it takes to help the Chiefs emerge victorious.
âSao Paulo, is that by the water? Iâd rather it be dry than humid, Iâm a sweaty guy. If it is humid, I am going to be miserable. But I am going to find a way to get a win.â
