The New York Jets continue their rebuilding process for the 2025 NFL season. Following Aaron Rodgers’ departure, Justin Fields takes over as the starting quarterback for the upcoming campaign, and the Green Team has already gotten to work strengthening the roster by adding depth.
Along with Rodgers, several players who were part of the team under the leadership of the former Super Bowl champion with the Green Bay Packers have also departed. Wide receiver Davante Adams and kickers Greg Zuerlein and Thomas Morstead are no longer on the roster, which is now being infused with new faces during the offseason.
In recent hours, in addition to the release of Zuerlein, the Jets have confirmed the addition of a new player who could be getting his first shot at the professional level. Fields and the Jets will benefit from defensive support while also using training camp to test new tactics.
The Jets’ new player
The new teammate of Fields on the Jets is none other than defensive end Michael Fletcher, who played at Michigan State before transferring to Appalachian State, where he recorded 4.5 sacks and 21 tackles in 2023. His arrival aims to strengthen the Jets‘ defensive line ahead of training camp.

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn is introduced to the media at Atlantic Health Jets Training Center on January 27, 2025 in Florham Park, New Jersey.
New ideas in the Jets project
The Jets’ offseason moves reflect the franchise’s renewal strategy following Rodgers’ departure. With new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey now in charge, the team is aiming to rejuvenate its roster and establish a new direction.
