The latest NFL free agency saw one of the most significant moves with Joey Bosa‘s arrival at the Buffalo Bills. After several years with the Chargers, the chance to reach a Super Bowl eluded him, that’s why he now believes he can achieve this goal alongside Josh Allen.

In recent comments published on NFL.com, the talented edge rusher revealed a conversation he had with the current NFL MVP, where he made it clear that if they can perform at a high level in the league, they are serious contenders to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

“Josh texted me that if we do what we set out to do, we can really be immortalized in this town,” Bosa said. “That’s what it’s all about is winning, winning a championship. And that’s why I think people are here.”

Additionally, Bosa revealed that one of the reasons he joined the Bills is precisely his age. The defensive end is approaching his thirties, which means his career in the league could be entering its final stage.

“Just something different. It’s been nine years [with the Chargers], which I’m really thankful for my career and how it’s played out. But I’m ready to experience something different,” Bosa also added. “I’m getting old and I’m ready to win. And I think this team is primed to do that, and I’m just excited to join a winning culture.”

Bosa wants to prove that he is up to the challenge

The great talent displayed by Bosa over the years has unfortunately been overshadowed by several injuries that kept him off the field in recent months. Despite this, the former Pro Bowler admitted that, if he feels fully physically prepared, he can prove in Buffalo that he is up to the standards the franchise expects.

“I know it’s been a tough last few years, but I know when I’m healthy and I’m on the field, I play really well, and I’m at a high level,” he said. “…I know winning is obviously a huge part of it, but I think I have a lot to prove to people, but mostly just myself. That I can prove to myself that I know the kind of player that I am, and I know I’ve had some good moments over the last few years, but it’s about putting it all together throughout the whole season and being available for my team.

Due to injuries, Bosa missed a total of 23 games over the last three seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers. In the 2024 season, the edge rusher participated in 14 games, starting in 9 of them.

The twilight of his career

Entering his tenth season in the NFL, Bosa knows that his chances of winning a Super Bowl as a professional player are limited. That’s why he made the decision to join the Bills, a franchise with high expectations of becoming champions.

“I’m locked in this year. I just want to do everything I can possibly do to stay healthy and to contribute to this team and be a part of winning,” he said. “I’m running out of time here, it’s going fast, I mean Year 10 already coming up and I just don’t have that many moments left.

“So I have to grasp them while I can, and I think all that’s on my mind is going to be football this year, and helping the team,” he concluded.

A goal that has eluded the Bills

Although in recent years the Buffalo Bills have established themselves as the top contenders in the AFC East, the reality is that, unfortunately for the franchise, they have never been able to win a Super Bowl in their history.

Josh Allen and his teammates will attempt to reach this decisive game for the fifth time and, once and for all, claim the NFL championship.
