NFL News: Matt LaFleur, Packers bring back familiar face for Jordan Love ahead of 2025 season

The Green Bay Packers are preventing a free agent from moving elsewhere, securing a familiar face for Matt LaFleur and Jordan Love ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

The Green Bay Packers lost to the eventual Super Bowl champions in the 2025 NFL playoffs, but the Philadelphia Eagles winning the championship didn’t make the playoff loss any easier for Matt LaFleur and Jordan Love.

The team knows that it has work to do after a challenging 2024 NFL season in the NFC North, where not even an 11-6 record was enough to finish above the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings.

The offseason, therefore, will be crucial for the Packers. The front office has been relatively quiet at the start of free agency, but it recently made a move to bring back a familiar face for LaFleur and Love in 2025.

The NFL’s transactions report from Friday shows that Packers offensive tackle Kadeem Telfort signed his exclusive rights tender, which means that he’ll stay in Green Bay for the 2025 NFL season.

Telfort, 26, joined the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2023, spending his entire rookie season with the practice squad. His NFL debut didn’t come until his second year, where he made 16 appearances, playing 23 snaps in offense and 79 on special teams.

Josh Jacobs believes Love, Packers need a top weapon

The Packers will be a team to watch until Week 1, with many expecting the franchise to make trades to help Love. Running back Josh Jacobs, for instance, let the front office know that the team should get a talented wideout with experience in the league.

We’ve got a pretty young group of receivers,” Jacobs told Milwaukee radio station The Game during Super Bowl week, via Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “All can be really, really, really special, but I think, personally, we need a guy that’s proven to be a No. 1 already. Somebody that we know is going to be a little more consistent.”

Packers sign veteran WR to help Love

Last week, the Packers signed a three-time Super Bowl champion with Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce on the Kansas City Chiefs by landing wide receiver and return specialist Mecole Hardman.

Hardman may not be seen as the No.1 WR Jacobs was talking about, but his addition still gives the Packers more veteran presence on the WR room. Besides, we’re talking about a wideout who, apart from having years of experience, also knows what it’s like to win championships.
