Las Vegas Raiders have begun a major rebuild after a disappointing 2024 NFL season in which the AFC West team finished last in the division and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Coach Pete Carroll is reportedly interested in bringing in a key player from the Seattle Seahawks, whom he previously coached.

Tom Brady is a minority owner and has already taken the first step in making strong decisions to strengthen a team that needs to improve its results in the upcoming campaign. Among several rumors and crossed news, Carroll’s Raiders could add a key weapon in the offense.

As reported by NFL insider Adam Schefter on his X account (formerly Twitter), the Raiders could be a destination for Tyler Lockett, the former Seahawks wide receiver. Carroll coached him in Seattle and knows him well, so he would be a logical fit.

Lockett’s status after leaving the Seahawks

Lockett is looking for a team for the 2025 NFL season. The 32-year-old wide receiver was released by the Seahawks after ten seasons with the team. During his time in Seattle, the veteran established himself as one of the franchise’s top receivers, recording 661 receptions, 8,594 yards and 61 touchdowns, ranking second in those categories in team history.

Pete Carroll and Lockett’s relationship

Lockett was selected by the Seahawks in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, and played under head coach Pete Carroll throughout his career in Seattle. The previous good relationship between the two, coupled with Vegas’ need to bolster its roster, is a more than solid argument that the Raiders could be an ideal destination for the former Seattle receiver.
