Las Vegas Raiders are using the offseason to rebuild their roster for the 2025 NFL season. As part of that goal, the team, with Pete Carroll as head coach and Tom Brady as a minority owner, has made a final decision on the future of quarterback Gardner Minshew.
If anyone has the power to decide a quarterback’s future, it is undoubtedly Brady. The GOAT has a key role in the Raiders’ decisions and, along with Carroll, is designing a competitive team for the upcoming campaign after a disappointing last season.
Minshew, meanwhile, has 46 career starts and joined the Raiders for last season. His starting role with the Las Vegas’ team was cut short when he suffered a broken collarbone in November 2024, an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the league. Now, Carroll’s team has determined the quarterback’s future.
Raiders’ final decision on Minshew’s future
NFL insider Tom Pelissero confirmed on his X account (formerly Twitter) that Brady and Carroll’s Raiders have made the final decision to release QB Gardner Minshew when the new league year begins next Wednesday. The 28-year-old will become an option for the rest of the teams looking to bolster the position.

After being confirmed as the starting quarterback in August 2024, Minshew did not perform as expected and was replaced by Aidan O’Connell in October 2024. In addition, his subsequent injury sidelined him for good.
